Orkide Ünsür is a published author and an award winning Turkish filmmaker from Istanbul. She was born in Ankara. She is originally from Balkan as her grandparents & ancestors came from Rumelia (Thessaloniki Province and Silistre Province). She graduated from the University of Istanbul, Faculty of Business Administration. She was trained as a filmmaker, successfully attending courses for camera, editing, interviewing technique organized by BBC team in ATV and by CNN International team in CNNTÜRK. She worked as a TV reporter, an assistant director, an assistant producer, a script writer, a director and a producer in national TV channels and production companies. She directed promotion films as a freelance director; made two short documentaries one as a co-producer and one as an executive producer; worked in short movies as a production coordinator, an art director and an actress.
As a producer, director and screenplay writer, she created the two awarded short documentaries 8’den 8’e Sahildekiler (Coastlanders 8 to 8), Metruk (The Abandoned) and the awarded short screenplay Sitophobia.
She is co-author of the horror anthology book Anadolu Korku Öyküleri III – YILGAYAK (Anatolian Horror Stories III) which has been published and released by Bilgi Yayınevi (Bilgi Publishing) in November 2017.
As a project director & co-author, she created “Dark Stories” anthology book series with different concepts and she collaborated with other horror & fantasy writers. Aşkın Karanlık Yüzü – 14 Şubat İçin 14 Yazardan 14 Karanlık Öykü (The Dark Side Of Love – 14 Writers, 14 Dark Love Stories for 14 February) has been published and released by İthaki Yayınları (Ithaki Publishing) in February 2017. Karanlık Yılbaşı Öyküleri-Aralıktan Sızan Karanlık (Dark New Year’s Eve Stories) has been published and released by Bilgi Yayınevi (Bilgi Publishing) in December 2017. Karanlıktaki Kadınlar (Women in Darkness) has been published and released by Bilgi Yayınevi (Bilgi Publishing) in March 2018. In this book, she collaborated with women writers for dark Istanbul stories.
Orkide Ünsür has been working on her new book as well as her film projects.
