Metruk is Finalist for Festival International du Film Merveilleux in Paris

The 2nd edition of the  Festival International du Film Merveilleux  (The International Fantasy Film Festival) to  be held in Paris from June 30 to July 2nd 2011.  The themes of the Film festival are magic, the imaginary, the marvelous, the supernatural, the occult, the strange, the esoteric, poetry, the fantastic, science -fiction, legends, comics, animated movies and mangas, video games…

It’s an international competition of recently produced films . The Jury 2011 is composed of following members: Xavier Gens ( Hitman, Frontière(s) ), Caroline Vié ( journalist ), Nicolas Alberny ( 8th Wonderland), Fabrice o Joubert ( French Roast,despicable me, shark tale).

The Festival director Benedicte Beaugeois  is also co founder of The Association Talulah.

Metruk (The Abandoned) will be screened at Théâtre douze, 6 avenue Maurice Ravel 75012 Paris on Saturday,  July 2 at  18:30

Metruk Wins Indie Fest Award of Merit

I am proud to announce that  Metruk (The Abandoned) has won the prestigious Award of Merit in the short documentary category from The Indie Fest Film Competition in California, United States. As a short documentary Indie winner, Metruk joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of this internationally respected award.

Thomas Baker, Ph.D., Chairman of the Indie Fest, remarked, “The Indie is not an easy award to win. Entries are received from around the world. The Indie helps set the standard for craft and creativity. The judges were exceptionally pleased with the exceptionally high quality of entries. The goal of The Indie is to help winners achieve the recognition they deserve.”

Indie awards go to those filmmakers who produce fresh, standout entertainment, animation and compelling documentaries. The Indie is a showcase for cinematic gems and unique voices.

Thanks again to Umut Can Sevindik and Alternatiffilm for their support.  This award is a great birthday present for me 🙂

Metruk is selected for the Festival International du Film Merveilleux, Paris

Metruk (The Abandoned) has been selected to be part of the 2nd edition of Festival International du Film Merveilleux to  be held in Paris from June 30 to July 2nd 2011.   It will be  screened  at  Theatre Douze, 6 avenue Maurice Ravel, Paris on 2nd July. 

The Festival promotes films celebrating the imaginary, the wonder and the magic from all over the world. The Talulah Association also organizes short-film and features film events in Paris ( all themes welcome ) as well as film workshops and ecological awareness.

Metruk is finalist for the National Short Film Festival

9th National Short Film Festival is being organized by Istanbul Short Filmmakers Association was held on 6,7 and 8 of May.  Metruk has been selected as finalist and screened once per day.

Metruk is selected for the CinemAmbiente Environmental Film Festival

Since its debut in Turin (Torino) Italy in 1998, CinemAmbiente Environmental Film Festival has presented outstanding environmental films in a year-round program of initiatives that promote cinema and green awareness.

Michael Cimino will be president of the International Documentary Competition jury at the 14th CinemAmbiente.

Metruk has been selected for the screening at the Panorama Section of the 14th CinemAmbiente Environmental Film Festival. Panorama is the out of competition international film section features meet-the-experts talks with films that use innovative language to explore environmental issues. In addition, special focus initiatives (on Urban Green and biodiversity) and guest festivals from around the world are presented.

Metruk is nominated for the “Best International Short Film”at the Swansea Bay Film Festival

Swansea Bay Film Festival (SBFF) will be held in Wales, United Kingdom, May 5-15, 2011.

Metruk (The Abandoned) is selected as finalist and nominated for the category of Best International Short Film Under 30 minutes by being the only short film from Turkey.  It will be screened on Sunday the 8th May at 02:20 p.m. at Venue Blancos, Port Talbot.

Swansea Bay Film Festival climaxes on Sunday May 15th with the Film Festival Gala Awards Banquet in Swansea.

Metruk is finalist for the Istanbul International Environmental Short Film Festival

Turkey’s first and only environmentally themed short film event, the International Environmental Film Festival in support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Bakırköy Artists Association (Basad) will be achieved through cooperation. 9th Istanbul International Environmental Short Film Festival will be held on  April 27-30, 2011. There is only one competition category which is national and Metruk (The Abandoned) is selected as finalist. 8’den 8’e SAHİLDEKİLER ( COASTLANDERS 8 to 8 ) has won the 3rd Best Documentary Award in the 8th Istanbul International Environmental Short  Film Festival last year.
