  • Senaryo dalında Ana Jüri Üyesi olduğum 2. Uluslararası Distopya Film Festivali, 20 Kasım’da AKM Yeşilçam Sineması’nda düzenlenen ödül töreni ve Tayfun Pirselimoğlu’nun Kerr filminin gösterimi ile sona erdi. Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı Sinema Genel Müdürlüğü’nün katkıları ve BKM Mutfak işbirliğiyle gerçekleşen festivalde, başta Festival Direktörü Hatice Aşkın, Festival Koordinatörü Caner Ural, Festival Danışmanları Biket İlhan, Serap Gedik, Emre Oskay ve Program Direktörü Kerem Akça olmak üzere; esprili sunumuyla geceye renk katan Melikşah Altuntaş’a, jüri üyelerine ve emeği geçen herkese çok teşekkürler… Gerek finale kalan gerekse ödül alan tüm senarist ve yönetmenleri tebrik ediyor, başarılarının devamını diliyorum. Uluslararası Frankfurt Türk Film Festivali/International Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival

Bu yıl 25-30 Ekim tarihleri arasında düzenlenen 21. Uluslararası Frankfurt Türk Film Festivali’nin kısa film yarışması bölümünde ben de jüri üyesiydim. Birbirinden güzel ve etkileyici kısa filmler izlediğimiz yarışmada, Jüri Başkanı Prof. Dr. Suat Gezgin’in önderliğinde, Fatih Ertekin, Münire Apaydın ve Dr. Ömer Önder’le beraber yönetmen Yiğit Armutoğlu’nun “Majid’den Sevgilerle” adlı çalışmasını Türkiye Birincisi seçtik. Kendisini ve yarışmaya katılan tüm yönetmen arkadaşlarımızı tebrik ediyorum.

Orkide Ünsür, Gülgün Yüceer

Yeni Çağdaş Kadınlar Eğitim Kültür ve Yardımlaşma Derneği’nin 13 Mayıs Çarşamba günü İstanbul Yelken Kulübü’nde yapılan toplantılarına konuşmacı olarak davet edildim.

Dernek başkanı Sayın Gülgün Yüceer’in konuşması ile açılan toplantıda derneğin etkinlikleri ve faaliyetlerinin yanı sıra Franz Kafka’dan hoş bir anekdota da yer verildi.

Çalışmalarımla ilgili kısa bir sunum yaptım; ardından  kısa belgesel filmlerim 8’den 8’e SAHİLDEKİLER ve Metruk’u izledik ve  Lâmia-KAN BAĞI’ndan  bir bölüm okuyup, kitabımı dernek üyeleri için imzaladım.

Nazik davetlerinden onur ve mutluluk duyduğum derneğin tüm çalışmalarında başarılar dilerim.

I’ve kindly been invited to attend as a guest speaker to the meeting of the New Modern Women Education Culture and Solidarity Association on  Wednesday, 13 May 2015 in Istanbul Yacht Club.

After the opening speech of the president Ms. Gülgün Yüceer, they talked about their latest works and shared one of the lovely anecdotes of Franz Kafka as well.

I made a short presentation about my short films, my book and my other projects.  We watched COASTLANDERS 8 to 8 and The Abandoned. I read the opening scene of Lamia-CONSANGUINITY and finally signed my books for the members.

I am very pleased and honored by their kind invitation and wishing them success in their all works.

Şarköy’ün Geleceği Platformu’nun davetiyle katıldığım, Namık Kemal Üniversitesi Şarköy Meslek Yüksek Okulu Konferans Salonu’nda, 5 Mayıs Salı günü düzenlenen etkinlik benim için çok özel ve heyecan vericiydi.

Kısa belgesellerim 8’den 8’e SAHİLDEKİLER ve Metruk’un gösteriminin ardından  filmlerimle ilgili soruları cevapladım ve kısa film üzerine konuştuk.

Kitabım Lâmia-KAN BAĞI’ndan ilk kez bir bölüm okuduğum etkinlik, aynı zamanda herkese açık ilk imza günümdü.

Konukseverlikleri ve ilgileri için başta Sayın Işın Neslihan Domaniç  ve Ebru Camgöz olmak üzere tüm “Şarköy’ün Geleceği Platformu” üyelerine,  Namık Kemal Üniversitesi Şarköy Meslek Yüksek Okulu Müdürü Doç. Dr. Sayın Elman Bahar’a, Yüksek Okul Sekreteri Sayın Rıdvan Demir’e, etkinliğe katılan öğrencilere ve Şarköy halkına, video ve yardımları için de Sayın Ali Turnaoğlu’na çok teşekkürler.

Yıllar önce gelmiş olduğum bu güzel ilçede güneşin batışı gerçekten bir başka 🙂

 

I was invited for the “Short Film Screening & Book Signing Event” which was organized by the Şarköy’s Future Platform on Tuesday, 5 May 2015 at the Namık Kemal University Şarköy Vocational School Conference Hall.

After the screenings of my short documentaries (Coastlanders 8 to 8 and the Abandoned) I answered the questions.

This event was very special and exciting for me not only for the my first public book signing, but also book reading (Lamia-CONSANGUINITY) in front of the audience.

Thanks a lot for their kindly invitation and hospitalization to Ms. Işın Neslihan Domaniç, Ms. Ebru Camgöz (Şarköy’s Future Platform); Mr. Elman Bahar (Vocational School Manager), Mr. Rıdvan Demir (Vocational School Secretary), the students and Şarköy residents who attended the event. Special thanks to Mr. Ali Turnaoğlu for the video and his support.

I visited this lovely town many years ago. The colors of sunset are unique here indeed 🙂

Acting as a Jury Member for the 11th National Short Film Festival

I was one of the jury members for the 11th National Short Film Festival (March 26-29, 2013) by  Istanbul Short Filmmakers Association (IKFD) & Dogus University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Visual Communication Design.

The *jury meeting was held on March 23rd at Dogus University. We watched the 16 finalist films and discussed them until late hours. Since all the films were great,  it was really hard for the jury members to select the winners.

Here are the winning films of this year’s National Short Film Festival:

Short Fiction Category:

1st Place 1st Place Festival Winner: Consensus directed by Gülten Taranç

2nd Place Festival Winner: Düğün (The Wedding) directed by Sertaç Yumun

3rd Place Festival Winner: On (Ten) directed by Ece Ger

Best Documentary

Hala (The Paternal Aunt) directed by Veysel Akşahin

The jury members were rewarded with a trophy plaque and a gravure art issued by Dogus University at the opening night of the festival on March 26th.

The winner films were announced on the closing night of the festival on March 29th and the filmmakers had their awards. Veteran actor Şemsi İnkaya and actor/screenwriter Ercan Kesal received honour awards.

As a filmmaker, it was a lovely & exciting experience for me. Thanks to all the Turkish filmmakers who did submit their films to the festival.

I attended a workshop organized by 24th Istanbul International Short Film Festival on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 : “A new path for the short film in cinema halls DIGITAL CINEMA PACKAGE ( DCP )” by Yaşar Ahmet Hızarcı.

Yaşar Ahmet Hızarcı is director, producer and general manager of Atlas Multimedia Productions in Istanbul. He gave Turkish short filmmakers many useful information about Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI), Digital Cinema Package (DCP), Digital Cinema Projection and advantages/benefits of digital cinema.  We also saw the the latest updates about digital movie theaters all around the world.

Hilmi Etikan, the director of the festival and the owner of Filmür Production offered to the feature length filmmakers (both directors & producers) a wonderful (yet some utopic) suggestion: “How about select a short film and embed it to your copy and screen it just before your own film?” Thus this short film also finds its audience in movie theaters. As a fan of this idea, I wish I would be one of them to support short filmmakers. 😉

Eminönü ’77  (Eminonu ’77)

Me and my brother made a one minute silent documentary which is the first film from our Super 8 film footage. We will make the second short documentary film (by using the whole film material) later. Stay tuned! 🙂

Synopsis: Eminonu ’77 is a Vintage Film was shot with a Super 8 movie camera. Filmed by our father in Istanbul in 1977,  mom and Okan take a small boat from Asian Side to European Side to visit Eminonu town which is especially famous with its historical  The New Mosque (Yeni Camii) and traditional pigeon feeding area located front of the mosque.
