Adalar Kent Konseyi’nin Eylül ayı programı kapsamında, kitabım Lâmia-KAN BAĞI için bir imza günü ve söyleşi etkinliği yer aldı. 6 Eylül Pazar günü, saat 18:00’de, Büyükada Çelik Gülersoy Kültür Merkezi’nde düzenlenen etkinlikte, kitabımı tanıtarak içinden küçük pasajlar okudum, katılımcılardan gelen soruları cevapladım ve yeni projemden kısaca bahsettim.
İstanbul’un en eşsiz ve güzel yerlerinden olan Prens Adaları ve özellikle Büyükada, Lâmia-KAN BAĞI’nın geçtiği ana mekânlardan biri olduğu için, burada okurlarla buluşmak ve kitabımı imzalamak benim için son derece heyecan ve mutluluk vericiydi.
Sayın Begüm Yavuz’a ve Adalar Kent Konseyi’ne nazik davetleri ve ilgileri için çok teşekkür ederim. I attended the “Talk & Book Signing Event” which was organized by Adalar City Council, on Sunday, September 6, 2015 in Büyükada (Big Island) Çelik Gülersoy Cultural Center.
It was so exciting and elating for me to meet with the readers, answering their questions and sign my book for them in Büyükada (Big Island). It was very meaningful because of not only Princes’ Islands are so unique and lovely places in İstanbul for me but also Princes’ Islands are one of the main places that Lamia-CONSANGUINTY takes place.
Thanks to Ms. Begüm Yavuz & Adalar City Council for their kind invitation. Thanks to all guests for their attendance and dear Karagözoğlu Family for their support and hospitality.

Yaklaşık iki yıllık bir hazırlık, araştırma ve yazım sürecini kapsayan ilk kitabım Lâmia-KAN BAĞI, Altınpost Yayınları tarafından basıldı ve piyasaya sürüldü.

After numerous researches, preparation and writing process of two years, my very first book Lamia-CONSANGUINITY has been published and released by Altınpost Publishing.
Many thanks to Altınpost Publishing Editor in Chief Murat Özden, my editor Zübeyir Yiğit and everyone else who put their efforts for my novel and I would also like to thank to my family and my best friends for their support.
I fulfilled my dream by getting my book published. It is extremely exciting and a big honor to hold my dream in my hands.
The book is available only in Turkish at the moment I hope to have it translated to English and many other languages in the future.
Eminönü ’77 (Eminonu ’77)
Me and my brother made a one minute silent documentary which is the first film from our Super 8 film footage. We will make the second short documentary film (by using the whole film material) later. Stay tuned! 🙂
Synopsis: Eminonu ’77 is a Vintage Film was shot with a Super 8 movie camera. Filmed by our father in Istanbul in 1977, mom and Okan take a small boat from Asian Side to European Side to visit Eminonu town which is especially famous with its historical The New Mosque (Yeni Camii) and traditional pigeon feeding area located front of the mosque.

The editing procedure has finished and finally “8’den 8’e SAHİLDEKİLER” / “COASTLANDERS 8 to 8” is ready. I would like to thank to my friends Tamer Gültekin and Umut Can Sevindik for editing procedure. They did their best despite of their busy schedules.
I am so happy with the music of my short docu and I am thankful to my extra ordinary talented friend Umur Türel for his wonderful, emotional song “Crying Out”. Before, I was thinking about the use some part of piano sonatas but I‘ve changed my mind. While we were talking about the music of the documentary he offered me to use his own music and he lighted a bulb in my mind. I listened and re listened all night long this song with slight tears in my eyes and called him immediately to say my decision!
Another person whom I’d like to thank for his help and let me used for his old photography archieve about Maltepe Coastline is jurnalist & painter Mr. Aykut Ünker. MAKSEV and also Maltepe Association Board Member Mr. Zeki Hırçın is very helpful and kind too. In fact I have to thank the other Maltepe residents whom I interviewed and all the people around me who supported me especially my family and close friends.
ABOUT BÜYÜKADA (BIG ISLAND)
AND THE TOY FACTORY SHORT MOVIE
This short movie produced in Büyükada (Big Island) / Prinkipo which is one of the Princes’ Island in the Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul. Büyükada is a wonderful place for it’s specific position which is so close to Istanbul (it’s only 2300 metres from Maltepe coast to Büyükada ) but also far away from the city crowd and noise. This place is famous for its beaches with cool and clean water.

As on the other islands, motorized vehicles – except service vehicles –are forbidden. Visitors can explore the island by foot, bicycle, in phaeton (horse- drawn carriages) or by riding donkeys. The famous monastery Aya Yorgi (Hagia Yorgi) standing on the island’s highest point. There is a ritual to climb and you should strictly follow the old rules without talking, only praying. Orthodox believers climb barefoot. But it’s a holy place for people from all religions. Some muslim Turkish people mostly visit Aya Yorgi especially 2 times in a year April 23 and September 24. And with an old tradition, some people tie ropes or rag on to the bush and trees for their wishes come true. And this short movie is inspired of this old tradition.

In my opinion, a drama director must have empathy actors/actresses’ world and have knowledge and/or instict about acting. I like acting and same improving my knowledge and understanding about this area. So it was a nice chance for me to have a role in this short movie, I found the opportunity with work wonderful actresses as Sevim Çalışgir, Tanju Tuncel (like we worked in Pamuk Prenses / Snow White short movie) Hasibe Eren. And even I kept my contact in my private life with Sevim Çalışgir since 1998 while we were working in TV drama Ateş Dansı/Fire Dance, it was the last time for me to had a chance working with her. Unfortunately this remarkable woman passed away in 2008.
In this short film set, I was also working as a Production Coordinator and collabrated with İsmet Karalar. Due to motorized vehicles forbidden in island we had to take special permission for our movie set vehicles. And as a production coordinator I found the opportunity with work wonderful technical team too. Briefly, it was nice and enjoyable movie set in Büyükada with unforgettable memories…
